Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
Assalamualykum,
Chootoo, I have the same question but I'm choosing between these two:
So my skin is rough/dry with sometimes oliy t-zone. I want something with a dewy satiny finish:
Both of these are for normal- dry skin:
Moonstar, your skin is similar to mine I think you said, you suggested this:
Hyper real spf 15
A smooth pearlescent liquid foundation formulated to make the skin reflect a natural health and vibrancy. Formulated with SPF 15 to protect the skin from everyday sun exposure.
but then I saw this:
Mineralize Satinfinish spf 15
A fluid foundation that blends the natural light-reflecting properties of micro-minerals with a smooth satin finish. Provides a low-to-medium buildable coverage with a skin-flattering, slightly luminous look. Helps make your skin appear, radiant, healthy, re- energized. Contains vitamins A, C and E to help nurture and condition the skin. Provides everyday broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15 sun protection. Long-wearing. Good for all skins. Especially suitable for normal-dry skins.
I dont know which one to choose of the two. If by 'slightly luminous look', they mean glittery then I wont go for the second. But I like all the vitamin skincare stuff. Other than that they seem the same?
Moonstar, or anyone else who knows, what's Hyper Real coverage like?

Today I tried both, one on each half of my face. The only thing Hyper real had going for it was that it's pretty much the perfect colour (N400 I think).
But it actually seemed to be the slightly glittery one, the coverage was pretty sheer- it might be nice if you dont have too much discoloured/problem skin.
but Mineralize Satinfinish (I got NW35)...wow, it's so smooth and bright looking and makes your skin look healthy, and its good for moisturising and sits fairly well on rough skin (though if you have it bad use a good moisturiser)* and makes you look cute and also like you're not wearing much makeup, blends in really well! Yayyy!
(Note- I've yet to see if it would turn shiny after a long, hot day though, but if it does you can fix it with sheer select powder, although that'd take away the 'satinfinish' really).
Edit:*

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
MAC foundation makes me look so cakey and gross. It on its own makes me look cakier than how I look with my concealer+primer+CG foundation+blush (which is my usual facial dress

What's CG?
I think it depends on which MAC foundation it is? I dont think Hyper Real nor Mineralize Satinfinish would look cakey cuz one is sheer and the other is quite natural and blendable, but probably Studio Fix, and the powders might.

And it still doesnt cover everything that needs covering on my face .
And now you know why I need to know a lot about foundations .
I've never heard of covergirl, I wonder if we have that here...*goes on foundation hunt*

CG is more so a drug store cos. But their foundation is very light and offers great coverage if you use it with a primer.

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
Shelf Life on Beauty Products.
Anti-aging and acne treatments: Three months to a year. Antioxidants are easily oxidized, so be on the lookout for any changes in color.
Body lotion: Two to three years, particularly if it’s in a pump container.
Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel: About three years.
Bath oil: One year.
Sunscreen: Check the package for an expiration date.
Mascara and liquid eyeliner: Three to four months. Make sure you’re diligent about replacing these items to prevent contamination and infections.
Eye and lip pencils: Three to five years. Sharpen them before each use as a way to preserve them and keep them clean.
Lipstick and lip gloss: Two to three years.
Foundation: About two years. Most bottles are designed to last that long. And if you don’t use it, chances are you didn’t love it to begin with.
Perfume: About two years. To get more mileage out of a perfume, resist the temptation to display a pretty bottle on your vanity. Instead, stash it away in a cool, dark place.
Nail polish: One year.
Hairstyling products: Three to five years. Most are alcohol-based, which helps preserve the formula.
Bar soap: Up to three years.
Shaving cream: About two years.
Deodorant: Up to two years.

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
I really like L'oreal... I know it's not one of those high end makeups like Dior or Mac and you can get it at Target, but they're pretty good for around the house or for less formal occasions and maybe semi-formal ones, particularly their eyeshadows...
