Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
I soooooo wanna get the Conair one.......I suppose it would be less damaging to my hair than normal flat irons (since it uses steam), right?
Thats my main concern, the health of my hair, but at the same time Im tired of wearing it in a pony tail....Ohhhhhh the dilemmas

assalamu alaykum
I disagree with Hard2hit, i think you'd be able to use them more than twice a month and not damage ur hair, as long as you use hair protecting serum.

Salaams,
Yeah the serum makes sense, I forgot to take that into account. Must. Tell. Wifey.
And again, I'd discourage steam one, because it could get hotter than one would expect.

but wouldnt the same problem exist with regular flat irons?
GHD's are pretty darn expensive

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
salaam girls,
i want to get my makeup done nicely for my cousin's wedding next month so i am looking into getting it done at a makeup counter since most salons do a really gaudy job. which makeup counter would you girls recommend? i live in canada but we have mac, sephora, and a variety of ones at the bay. if i show them a picture of what kind of look i want, would they be able to reproduce that? thanks for your responses.

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
so. i'm stupid. i bought liquid eye liner recently..after several failed attempts years ago. on the package (as well as the lady at sephora) say that the way you apply it is by making a thin line across the top of your lid...very close to your eye lash line.
so ...why is it that when i see how other chics have applied their makeup (yes im a stalker like that), it looks like its more on the inner lids? does that make sense? like. its not outline on the outside, but looks more like outlining the lids..some other way. it looks nicer. and more subtle. wtf am i doing wrong? is it a different product entirely? does anyone even know what i'm talking about? god. its so annoying to not have sisters sometimes. but just sometimes.
ok. stfu and stop laughing.

Ya, I know what you mean, I prefer lining my inner eye but don't use liquid for that! I use gel eyeliner now but I stopped lining my inner eye because it was causing my problems with my contacts. I'm going to try to line the actual eyelashes and see how that goes but I'm avoiding eyeliner for a week or two to recover. But ya, I know what you mean but this mary-kay lady told me it's really unhygenic because all this stuff gets in your eye and it can build up bacteria and cause problems. But ya, give it a whirl if you still want, but don't do it with liquid bc it'll get all up in your eye.

Liek omgzzz
Seriously. I dont know what skin type I am anymore. I feel like I want that foundation, but I only just bought my second studio fix . Im not rich enough.
So I used to be oily combination, and sometimes I still am, but sometimes my face is sooo dry. And normally I got for light-feel shine reducing moisturisers, but now Im wondering if I need heavier/thicker moisturisers, and to use something like hyper real foundation, instead of one for oily skin. But Im scared of becoming shiny after a whole day & at the same time, if i have dry skin, stuff like studio fix liquids and powders dont 'finish' so nicely..and I dont like the 'matte' look anymore, I think its dullness, I like dewy. And I finished my almay moisture stick SO fast. But thats cuz I used loads, so the studio fix wouldnt look too matte, and cuz my face was so dry and I lost my moisturiser, so i used the stick instead.
And Im breaking out loads on my chin, but makeup hasnt usually bothered my skin much before. Might be I need to keep my fluffy brush covered and not just chucked in my bag, it prolly catches more g-e-r-m-s germalicious.
I doent noeeee!!!
 .
Gotta try the stila concealer, do they have a good colour range?

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
Maybe your skin is dry and by drying it more out (under the beleif that is oily) thus causing your sebaceous glads to overact to compensate?

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
Oki, so I've been practicing based on the youtube videos that were linked before. I've gotten a lot of compliments already, so I'm like yayyy.
The photos don't do it great justice due to lightning and whatnot but you can get the general idea of how they look.
This is a mixture of Forgiving & Mischief from Loreal HIP.
And this one is Reckless from Loreal HIP with a base of Covergirl Whipped Shadow in Whipped Amethyst.
I'll post more pictures of more color combinations as I do em.
