Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
Salika: Eyelashes are hair and just like the hair on our head, they are prone to damage, drying, and split ends
I read that in a magazine years ago and it made perfect sense to me, and is one of the many reasons why I barely ever use mascara. I love my perfect lashes too much to mess with them.
Oh and I LOVE putting white eye shadow in the beginning part of your eye. Smudging it in with whatever other shadow you're using-- way to make the eyes pop and look more lively.
OH and another thing! I went to the dermatologist [hormones are totally out of wack] and I was reading about the suggested moisturizes and makeup to use for the face. They said to use make-up/moisturizer/soap that is noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. I was like, eh? So I asked the doctor about it why hypoallergenic isn't mentioned, since that is widely broadcasted on make-up with an added 'dermatologist recommended' and he said that is just has slightly less than the usual crap in it but that it will still cause clogged pores and acne.
And that's when I realized, THAT'S why I break-out anytime I test a 'hypoallergenic' makeup.
So that may mean that I would be able to use, say blush, if it's noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic....but where do I find that?
I found the moisturizer and gentle soap from Cetaphil.

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
What's the point of make-up you can see?
Like, I see lots of women wearing so much blush and it doesn't look pretty. I mean, nobody's skin gets that colour even if they're flushed. So what's the point?

That's really pretty itz! I love coloured eyeliners too cuz it adds colour and fun w/o looking overdone or being too much effort. plus I dont like eyeshadow, so it's how I add colour. I like rimmels jungle green (i think thats what its called). And some dark but sharpish looking navy blue from prestige, forgot the name of the colour.
Except tbh I cant be bothered putting it on much now cuz I find it so hard to get out of my eyelashes! At least if black remains in your lashes you can hardly tell. Also I'm in love with the black i have, it's but a Superdrug only brand called GOSH. It's not too expensive in it goes on so easily, can look so black black and deep and smudgy. Other pencil liners need you to like scribble in your eye to get the colour to show or to make it look thick, but this ones so easy.

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
i like mac and clinique products..but absolutely hated each time i asked them to apply makeup for me for an occasion..twice at clinique, once at mac..
they do such a terrible job..i know every place is diff tho cuz diff people work there..but anyway maybe it's just because i have a weird skin tone and very rare and uncommon tones of stuff suits me..

It's not just different places having diff people, could be the smae place too. Mac for example, the different people there think i should have a different colour foundation each time I go . Im still not quite sure what im happy with, none of the colours are really *my tone*. I think they should make half or quarter size samples, for half or quater the price. So if you realise after a few times of testing it out that your not happy with it, you wouldn't have wasted a lot of makeup and money.

and i gotta say that diff mac people do diff. jobs. i loved girl who did my make up for my wedding.
anywho...i haven't shopped for make-up in a while. i need a good mascara which can volumize my lases and sort of separate them from each other, maybe i need a lash comb.

I HATE eyelash curlers . The main reason being I once was curling my lashes when I was like 16 and someone came in the room all of a sudden, and I got scared, jerked my hand, ripped a buncha lashes out ouch!! It wasnt loads but maybe like 6ish or a few more. And it was my right too, so it contributed to me having less lashes on the right and adding to my weirdness.
Also I find them incredibly fiddly and difficult.
I can’t quite get the curler close enough to the roots, yet manage to catch all/most of the outer lashes in the curler. Plus having my lashes pointing downwards to start with makes it extremely difficult for me to get the outer corner ones in it, without catching my bottom lashes in it too.
And then if I do manage to get through all that (well maybe I’m not doing it properly, I dunno) but coz I cant get right in at the root, instead of a curvy curl, it looks to me more like a v shaped dent, where my eyelashes start off pointing downwards and then sharply flick up. And then if I put the mascara on top they just get weighed down and turn back to normal! If I decide to do it after mascara, it’s slightly better but it makes some of my mascara flake off.
So I’ve given my curler to my sister now cuz I cant be bothered to use it. Instead I try curling while applying mascara by rolling the brush up and out. And then when its dry I push the lashes up with my fingers to curl them a bit more. It gives a decent curve, lifts them from the pointing-downwards position, but the only thing is they aren’t ‘lifted’/open enough. And I put lots of mascara on the corner lashes so at least they stand out well.

Eyelashes are hair and just like the hair on our head, they are prone to damage, drying, and split ends (I think mine have split ends actually). So I just moisturize/condition my eyelashes (with coconut oil). They look healthier and if it's not in my head, a little bit thicker too. They still point downwards but I don't think you can undo split ends so I'm gonna have to wait until my eyelashes grow in to really see the difference.
Keep in mind that makeup and eyelash curling can dry out and damage lashes too (just like curling and hair spraying damages the hair on your head) so be sure to condition
|
Mine aren’t split ended or dry, but prone to fall out and could do with looking thicker. What can I use to condition them with? I’m allergic to eating coconut- though I know that doesn’t mean I cant use the oil but I just cant stand the smell of it, it just makes me wanna scratch and sneeze . I think it’s an irrational thing . I think I read somewhere mustard (seed?) oil is good, or am I just making that up ?

I have weird skin tone too. I can never find a foundation to match my skin. I want to lancome and she had a hard time matching me. She said I was fair but at the same time I had color. Its tie die I guess.

Ya, the artists usually go a shade darker on my for some reason. I'm probably close to your skin tone... I'm vhite but like not pale, but not really beige either... methinks it's a slight olive tone, since we be Ay-rabs.. at least in my case at least.

Ya, I just took a better look and they're not split ended but maybe they're dry. I asked my hair salon lady what the turn over rate for eyelashes was and she said about 3 months so to see the ends looking different probably would take around that time. I don't know what your reaction would be with coconut oil, maybe you can try castor oil, almond oil, or even olive oil. Basically any moisturizer that won't hurt the eyes and is not too heavy.
