I'd say almond.

HIP eyeshadows are actually pretty good. i've only tried a few when they went on sale, and it was nice... pretty colors, stayed on pretty well with a primer, and because the duos aren't that expensive, you can get a wide variety of colors.

iSHi: Um, more of a knock off of Lancome.

Lol, oki.

sumiyia: are my eyes almond or round?

Can't one check by taking an almond, putting it on its side, and holding it up in front of the eye?

Fooz: salams, sorry if someone mentioned this already, I didnt read many of the previous posts. But apparently Raheela is over rated and makes a mess of your face. I heard two different first hand accounts of her work. Dont do it.

Perhaps you can find a bunch of different styles, and have someone do that on you instead relying solely on the artist's creation? There's a MAC group on Facebook where you can find some really nice eye makeup styles, and then there's a group called Shutter Photography (though I think I've mentioned them here before). Shutter has some nice shots too with lovely makeup. Look around, see what you like, and if worse comes to worst then that would be a good bet.

But of course, I hope it all works out and you dont have to do that. InshAllah khair.

Oh oki cool! I went onto their site to find a store near me-- when I move, they'll be less than 5mins from my apartment, so next time I go out there I'll check them out. Thanks.

I think you should get a trial run from Raheela. When I lived in Brooklyn, I used to go to her for threading and the like. Often times on Friday and Saturday evenings, she'd be making up brides right there in her salon. She obviously does more desi style makeup, but I never saw her make a bride look bad, and I never saw her do a clown face on anyone. To me, they looked balanced and finished, not washed out. But then again, I like slightly heavier makeup for weddings (especially on the eyes), and I'm not keen on the natural look when you're wearing such an heavy, colorful jora and jewelry. In real life in your room as you're getting ready, the makeup may look and feel heavy, but with all the lights on you, especially from the videographer's spotlights, the more substantial makeup looks better. Desi style makeup has come a long way, and the more talented artists don't do white cakey kabuki faces anymore.

Also, when you go to Raheela's salon, she has a bunch of photos up of all the brides she's done. Some are better than others. Tell her which ones you like and why you like them, and she'll get an idea of what you prefer.

It really depends on what kind of makeup you like and what you want for your wedding. I know some people like more subtle stuff, but truth be told, it doesn't always translate well in the professional pictures. Definitely get a trial done, set your dupatta around your head, put on the jewelry, and take some photos and see if you like it or not.

shadha, i've tried so many different eye primers, and the best is urban decay primer potion. its $15 for a tube, and when that tube looks like it's empty, if you cut it open, you'll find way more primer that you can put into a eyeshadow pot and use. i've posted about UDPP before, and it's supersupersuper good. even people i know who swears by mac pigments will use UDPP as their primer for the staying power. you can find it it sephora, ulta, or their website.
good luck

You put on eye primer as a base before you put anything else on, like eyeshadow, liner, ect. It helps to keep your shadow and liner from running and smudging. It also helps avoid those lines from eyeshadows at your crease.

primer basically helps pigment, shadow, and eyeliner stay on the eyelids, even oily eyelids like mine.
if you have an eyeshadow color you like, do a test. put a swipe of primer on upside of your hand. then run the shadow with a brush through that swipe. you'll see that the primer "holds" the shadow more intensely compared to the part of your skin that's unprimed.
primers for the face do basically the same thing, create a nice canvas for the foundation to grab on to. smashbox photo finish foundation primer light usually wins hands down but some people prefer laura mercier primer. using primer usually makes foundation glide on easier, and people notice they use less foundation as a result. if you get breakouts, primer also helps protect your pores by making a barrier.
...as you can see from my posts, i'm a huge fan of primer
