honey cured my acne. the antibiotics i took worked for a time too but acne came back. putting honey on my face once or twice a day after i washed my face worked for me.

and the same friend that told me to use honey on my acne swears that yogurt will help with scarring. i've read that it will but i'm still not using it so i couldn't tell u.

My Father always told me "stop putting so much stuff on your face...LEAVE IT ALONE" I stopped the acne medication and now I stopped putting cream on at night and Im doing pretty darn good

Im not sure if that would have worked out in my teens though

after i wash my face, i put honey all over the parts of my face that usually has acne, (not the parts of my face that don't usually) and leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then wash it off again.

in addition to that i use the acne.org regimen which basically just talks about being gentle to your skin and not putting oil on it.

and mineral makeup, i've found works really well at not cloggin up my pores and re-stimulating my acne. i didn't wear any makeup for a long time because i was so scared, but now i wear mineral make up whenever i want because it's so light.

i was on deoxycycline for a year. they worked almost immediately after i started taking them but like i said, i kept taking them for a year. i went off of them and then my acne came back within the next year. maybe after like 8 months?

plus it makes your skin very tender, and you have to stay out of the sun. and it can hurt your stomach. i had to take the gel caps.

i can't recommend honey enough!

well like i said, u have to put up with occasional stomach pain (depending on pill form) and delicate skin (it becomes irritated way more quickly) and eventually the effectiveness of it wears off.

i wanted to stop taking it b/c of the first two symptoms, plus b/c i didn't want it to stop being effective if i ever needed to take it for any reason.

sadly, and i forgot about this, i started taking it again when my acne came back, and it wasn't as effective.

also there is the inconvenience of having to remember to take a pill.

and of course that the pharm companies are evil and what not.


**oh but for each person it is different of course. i wouldn't want to talk someone out of taking it, and it depends on severity of your acne on if it will work for you. if you're thinking of trying it, you should, why not? it comes in a generic i believe and it's pretty cheap.

Yeah, it is pretty cheap... plus my health plan covers it anyway.
My dermatologist put me on antibiotics a couple of months ago actually and they're doing wonders so far.

Was just curious about what happens though, 'cause I've heard that eventually you become resistant to them. So yeah... I'm happy with my skin now; it's almost perfect. All the acne is gone and I rarely get a new pimple now. And it's even working on the scars. I don't want my acne to come back!

She said if they stop working or don't work at all, then we'lll move on to the big guns. Birth control pills. Meh. My acne wasn't (isn't?) severe enough for Accutane.

It's been about three months which is how long she said I should try the antibiotics for. Seeing as they're working, should I just keep taking them? I mean, if they're working, why mess with it, right? She gave me refills, enough for a year. I think I'll just keep taking them for the year, then go see her again and see what she has to say.

But yeah, about the skin... I just wear sunscreen all the time. SPF 30 or 15, at the least. And as for the stomach thing... yeah, it sucks. It's not pain exactly but just a weird kind of nausea. Having to take the pill on an empty stomach just makes it worse, eh? I'm pretty good about remembering to take the pill; it's just that the not eating before/after and no dairy for an hour isn't fun either.

I'm willing to do all this for the clear skin though.

yeah i was willing to as well. oh i loved how my skin looked back then! sigh. not too bad now but it was better then.

anyway, just my advice, don't take the bc pill. and if u do, read up on it first. don't let them just prescribe u drugs like they are not serious or anything. depending on the pill just be careful. i have had some bad experiences and i know friends who have as well, and depending on each person it may or may not work on your acne. only if it was hormonal. just be careful sister.

Yeah i have. I got a whole set as a birthday present from my cousin (she was obviously hinting something ). But it's great mashAllah, you can really see the difference. It helps skin go smooth as well.
