Car for sale HELP!
Salaam,
My dad wants to get rid of his car and buy a used one after a couple of months. We all had been insisting that he sell that car, but he's finally being serious about it. The car drives from point A to B and thats it. I won't call it ultra reliable
Nissan Sentra '97
Color: Charcoal Gray
Automatic windows/shift
No AC
Hood: Rusty color due to wrong product use
Several scratches and bumps due to collisions/small accidents (though it does not look like a crunched up car)
Someone offered to pay $1500, but I think its still too low. I wanted to go $2000 max., but my dad says thats too high. I insisted to at least raise the price to $1600-1700 and see what happens. He's been driving that car for over 5 yrs now.
So what do you think is a good price tag for the car? And any online sites you would recommend to post it up? I want to get rid of that car fast
~j

jaani, I have to admit something here. I've never sold a car in my life. Every car I've ever owned I either gave to someone in my family when I got a new one, or it died so fantastically that it ended up in a junk yard.
I have bought 3 cars though. I used the above resources to figure out a reasonable purchase price, and to research different vehicles.

Re: Car for sale HELP!
your dad is right, $2000 is ridiculously overpriced.
take the $1500, before the offeror leaves.
im assuming of course that the mileage is at least 100k and that it is automatic.

If you sell that car for $1500, you will have gotten a good price for it.

thanks! The offer is still on the table
And I'm not sure about the mileage......he bought it used and he only makes city wide trips....doesn't drive on the highway either.

Definitely go for the $1500. I had a 96 Sentra for more than 5 years myself. I put it up on craigslist.com, cars.com, recycler.com for sale (all those are free, should be ne way). Also definitely include pictures.
If your dads car gives good MPG, it should be a good selling point. Also state if it was well-maintained.
Good luck with the sale!
