My boy has an 08 335 coupe. Beeeeeeautiful.
He let me drive it -- I can't begin to describe the ride. The clutch is out of this world, going from a stock honda clutch with (a really generous clutch at that) to that BMW clutch was something else.
No friction point! It's impossible to stall that car.
I didn't enjoy my drive home at all.

I'll be doing solo autocross (though not time trial) if I go. Are you gonna swap out the diff as well? I think the GSRs had LSD, not sure..
Nice wheels, they look sort of like CSLs.
This is what I'm putting on soon (they just shipped today, I can't wait to put summer tires on) -
OEM 18" 162s.. I really wanted BBS LMs or Hartge Classics, but couldn't justify the cost.. got a great deal on these

Yeah, alhamdulillah, the car is absolutely amazing. Smooth as silk, incredible handling, tons of torque available at pretty much any RPM.. It puts a big smile on my face every time I drive it.
I actually think Honda makes pretty slick manual gearboxes though.. a friend of mine had an S2000 a few years back, and that car was a joy to drive.
Has your boy done any mods to his car?

Yea I'll have to.

Have you lowered the car already? From what I can picture in my head BMWs don't have a terrible stock gap so you probably won't have to unless you really want the handling gains. If you are going to, how much of a drop? 1.75F 1.5R?
But those are nice looking rims. I like the rims I've got but I'm not crazy about them. My preference would have been gunmental BBS style spokes but the rims and tires were a package deal and I got a great deal.

I'm jealous. I'm dying to boot around in the coupe on the highway and see what going from 4 to 3 feels like in that bad boy.
Yea new hondas have great manual trannies. My boy has an 05 accord coupe that I drove recently. I was surprised at how low the clutch is to the floor. Your heel doesn't have to come off the ground at all, all toe. I don't believe any new cars with an MT can be stalled, I just don't see how its possible.
I almost disliked the feeling... kind of as if the pleasure was taken out of driving stick.
No mods, I don't think he will either. I think the car is leased.

Nah, I haven't.. still waiting to get the coilovers. The xis actually have a huge gap (they're raised for snow clearance). I don't know how much I'm going to drop it yet, though I'll be concentrating more on ride & handling than lowering.

It's great.. giving it full throttle in 3rd pushes you back into your seat. I can't imagine what it'll be like with a chip or reflash

I haven't driven one recently, so that's kind of odd.. if the clutch is kind of just like a gas/brake pedal, that would be very weird. Not sure I'd like that either.

You can mod a leased car, you just have to un-mod when you take it back. Violating warranty is a concern for me as well, so I have to be somewhat careful (hence no Procede v2)

The difference was pretty alarming. I've no complaints at how smooth the clutch was, but rather the travel. Comparing it to your clutch pedal, yours is a relatively long pedal with a nice fluid response but buttery smooth - now imagine your clutch pedal with about a quarter to half as much travel.
Mad weird.

Re: IB's project car
IB, if you haven't already ordered your H&Rs, modbargains.com has great deals on them
I'm considering getting these now, as they are considerably less expensive than the KWs I was looking at:
H&R Street Performance Coilovers BMW E90/91/92 3 Series COUPE, SEDAN, and WAGON
Unfortunately, I think it's gonna void the tire/wheel insurance I got from my dealership.. oh well.
Rims arrived yesterday, tints going in Friday. Will take pics when it's all said & done

Re: IB's project car
my rims and dunlops are on the car.. alhamdulillah, they look awesome & really make the car.
the short shift kit is in place , now i just need to swap it out for a weighted //M style shift knob. i ordered this one:
http://www.trademotion.com/sfimages/...Image63125.jpg
instead of the OEM E90 M3 knob. the OEM knob is 3x more and not quite as short, plus this one is weighted for smoother throws. the throws are a million times better already with the short shift kit.. i can't wait to put the new knob on iA
and yeah IB, pics soon.. I know I keep delaying. sorry, i'm lazy
also, it keeps raining.. so i STILL haven't done the detailing yet

A clutch is a terrible thing to waste.

Re: IB's project car
So I bought some used rims off of craigslist. The style suits my taste and my car but they had a lot of curb rash.
This is a closeup of the rims the day I bought them. Look along the outer edge where the rim meets the tire and you'll see the damage.
Can't be having that, so I decided to refinish them.
First I cleaned them thoroughly, then used a power sander to clean up the worst of the rash. Note: if you have deep gouges you might need to use bondo or j.b weld to level out the gouges. Really think long and hard about using bondo. I used it on the first two rims and realized after that I didn't need to. Sanding with coarse enough grit would have been just as good and much less time consuming.
Prepped, but no primer:
This is the finished product: 2 thin coats of primer (20 minutes drying time for each) then sanded down with 800grit sandpaper [SANDING AND CLEANING THEM AFTER THE PRIMER IS CRUCIAL], then 2.5 coats of duplicor high performance wheel paint, 30-45 minutes drying time between each coat, then 2 coats of clearcoat, 30 mins drying time each.
Edit: Added a gold lip to the rim and finished all four. Going on my car tomorrow!
Did the lug nuts gold too
Can't wait to put them on my car!
