Re: cars for girls
I'm thinking about this as an alternative to the civic. It's about the same price/quality, just a bit more exciting to drive. Whaddya think?

infinitely superior to the civic & much easier to negotiate on at a dealership.. get the "S" version equipped with the (standard) 5 speed transmission & the 2.3l engine. a friend of mine has one, and it's a very fun car.

I had one for a couple months over the summer. I loved it. Now, to break my family's Honda habit... Inshallah.

Re: cars for girls
Remember that pink beatle sally posted long time back?
I'll admit. I really liked it. And it still goes around my head at times.
But, even if I ever had the oppurtunity to get it, I don't think I would. Too flashy, especially if you live in a Muslim Country, it just screams: 'I'm Female!'. However, if it became the norm and the female population bought it, I'd think about it. [Or ask my Dad more like it, which would most probably end up being a NO.']
Oh wait... I don't think pink cars, or a pink beatle for that matter is even out here.

The Honda is a good habit. Why fix it if it works better than anything else? I'm thinking of a 2013 Honda Accord insha Allah. (That's how long it'll take me to save up for one ).

The Mazda 3 costs about the same (cheaper, even) and it's a more fun car.

I have a 1987 Honda Accord which I drive daily for fajr 2 miles away and mebbe about three to four times a month in distances exceeding 10 miles with about once a month on a trip greater than 20 miles. It runs great with only 95k on the engine. The rest is all biking (20 miles a day to work and back) donchaknow
unlike most people I can live comfortably biking to work everyday

Haha you changed it. I get a ride to a Halaqa every thursday and the brother has a 2007 Mazda 5 I think. Not really something to jump up and down about
p.s. I hate cars that insulate the driver against the elements. Makes me feel suffocated. Thus the Honda I have now is perfect for my needs.

I changed it coz I was going to clarify and say "if you can afford it or are interested in cars" and blah blah because for some people, only certain types of vehicles are practical/serviceable from a financial or family standpoint, and then of course a lot of people just don't care about driving. It sounded self-indulgent and presumptuous without all those clarifications, but I decided I didn't want to get into all that, so I just changed it.
I dislike cars that insulate a driver from the road/driving experience too. But I guess there's a market for that as well. Some people just want to be comfortable (and/or stylish) when they drive.
