the V1 gets around those signals afaik

Shut up. That was a long time ago, & it wasn't my fault.

Re: Radar Detectors
So yea, I didn't do much to conceal it other then keep an eye out always behind me and if a cop did come nearby I would pull it down. Here's a picture of how I put mine up. Just regular. Only one time did a cop care about it, he tried to say it was obstructing my view!
I got an extra big rear view mirror for the motorcycle cops that like to hide out in your blind spots.

Yeah, in MN it's illegal to mount them (or anything) on your windshield.. but I don't want suction cups on the windshield anyway.

Re: Radar Detectors
i got the escort 8500 like a year and a half ago. the 2 that stood out in all the comparison tests (at that time) were the 8500 and the V1; couldn't justify spending the extra $100 mostly for directional arrows on the display... although if i had excess cash lying around i would have gone for the V1. haven't gotten a ticket since i got it, and it's saved me quite a few times, esp the laser detector.
how do you conceal a radar detector while still getting optimal detection? the most I did was have a hardwire going from my fuse box (below and to the left of the steering wheel) along the bottom of the windshield/defroster and to the center of the windshield.
that was mostly to get rid of the wire but not to conceal it from cops. I keep it prominently displayed for max detection because i know for the most part that if i get pulled over, i'm going to get a ticket.

Thieves are also a good reason for concealment (you could always put it away every time you use it, I guess). I think the best way to conceal it without compromising any signal detection is either a rear-view mirror modification, or mounted under the visor. Not much else you can really do.

yea i snap it off the window bracket whenever i'm parking out in public because of that. i'm always surprised at how many people leave their gps on their dashboard.
how do you conceal it in the rear view mirror? have any pics/links?
