Re: New bike
I want a new bike, but its too bad because I doubt I would be able to pedal my weight any further than 2ft.

Re: New bike
I've heard cycling isn't very good for knee problems. Is this true?

Yep. Thats why they have recumbents. Then neither your knees or back suffers

Hmm... interesting. I saw this guy riding one near Hyde Park a few days ago, but it was a full recumbent - he was almost lying down. But, those are good for your knees and back? They look more awkward to ride.

From what I've heard (mostly from old geezers) the upright recumbents are virtually pain free.

Ok, I gotcha now.
Now I need a new bike since the old one got nicked. I was hesitant to buy until I could settle this power and knee pain issue.
I ride frequently but not long distances in urban areas with a few mild inclines. I need something cheap and cheerful. What type shall I go for?

Thats a loaded question. There's a variety of different kinds you can go for. You can do a search on bikeforums.net forum. They get this question alot. Unfortunately biking a very cheap hobby.

Re: New bike
I've got a friend who makes bikes like that but he has much larger trailers.
Anyway, this is a great bike:
It's a Pashley bike, hand made in Stratford
You might notice it's got a dutch like fashion to it where the handle bars are nice and high. My bike is like that (i bought it from Amsterdam) and i love it!
