Dude, in our area, if you get busted doing more than 50 km/h over the speed limit ... whether on city streets or on highways, its a $5000 fine and your car gets taken away on the spot.

50 km/h = 30 mph

in our area it's usually 70mph.
i can't drive any slower than that. i find myself speeding even when i don't mean to
80mph or higher would be tight

Wow, $5000 and towing! But what is your speed limiton highways? I can imagine how tough that could be if the speed limit itself was horribly low. I want to drive on the German Autobans...that must be amazing.

Anyone done BMW's Performance Driving School?

Inshallah, I want to do it when (if ever) I can afford one.

I also want to do the Land Rover one.

The speed limit on our highways is 100 km/h [60 mph] and the cops usually let you off if you're doing 115 or 120, because the majority of people do that anyways ... in fact a lot of people living in southern Ontario have been calling for the speed limit on the highways to be raised to 120 km/h.

But recently there were a lot of car crashes and horrible deaths involving reckless kids who were street racing, so that's why that law went into effect, Oct. 1st, 2007.

I saw that, and I'm planning to go. At my previous workplace they taught something similar, because we would have to use company cars often, but nothing close to what BMW's offering.

I have done 110-130 MPH on California's 5 and 405 freeways... Guess that's bad eh? Always in the middle of the night though...I'd get from LA to San Diego in an hour, hour and ten minutes

those were the days...

Yea we do 135 mph [215 km/h] on the Toronto-Windsor circuit in the daytime.

Before the Islamica crash we had a big thread on this and that kid aljae, holy shizz, the dude couldn't believe we used to do over 140 km/h on the 401. Poor guy couldn't take the pressure of disbelief and quit Islamica

Court date for 72 in a 40 coming up soon. Long story. Wasn't even on the freeway, so I don't have any excuse..

I thought about doing Performance Driving Center or European delivery on my car. In the end, I was too impatient. If you ever do get one, ED seems like the better experience + includes a substantial discount.

Hmm, I don't think I'd go to NC for delivery. Europe, perhaps.

But mainly I want to do the school so that I get to drive those cars the way they're supposed to be driven, without risking damage to my own.

PDC delivery means going to North Carolina as far as I know. ED means you get to take your car out on the autobahn for a few days and a 7% discount on the car plus some other goodies.. you can book an (overpriced) travel package through BMW or make your own arrangements and tour Germany in your new car. Then they ship the car to you in the States.

PDC also offers classes in Cali and Chicago, as well as NC, and those are independent of a car purchase. Although, ED will have to be something to consider if/when I ever buy one (autobahn ).

Oh yeah, you can do the PDC outside of car delivery too. I kind of regret not doing the European delivery.

Stupid freaking North American freeway speed limits.

Canada:

England:

And the good ol' States:
