I saw a pretty decent deal on a VW Jetta 2003 for about 8999 and with 84K on it. Are Jettas pretty reliable?

That's a heck of a lot of money to pay for a nearly 10 year old car. If you want FWD, why not get a subaru and save yourself some money in gas and insurance?

Better negotiate it down to about $6,000, then it might be worth it. Seriously, 9k for a 5 year old car with more than 50k miles is too much money. Do you check the Blue Book value before you go shopping? |

I personally love VWs. My dream car is a VW passat or a jetta regardless of the year. That being said, 8999 for an 03 with 64K sounds kinda expensive. The sidekick is too much for a 10 year old car. Elantras are kinda inexpensive, but I don't think they last as long as say, a honda. How much driving do you do? I think a japanese car might last longer for you if you drive a lot, but any other car can be fine if you drive like 1000 miles or less a month. (just my silly opinion though)
