As the actual video clip makes clear, they're referring to religious music, and as he states near the end, its about his Muslim identity.

Amro Diab doesnt fall in that category.

the content of the segment is accurate, because it talks about religious music catering to muslims in the west. its just the title that is wrong because it describes him as the biggest "rock star" in the muslim world.

Actually, I'm not sure if the content is accurate either. There may be religious entertainers based in other countries outside of the west that outsell sami yusuf, but I honestly have no idea about that so i can only assume the report is correct. In any case it doesnt say that he is the biggest star or the top seller, it just says that he's popular (which he is) and that he tops the charts all over the muslim world (which is not really true)

People have said he's both, because of his Azeri origin and Iranian birth. Others say he's Sunni.

I don't think it matters particularly.

I go to some of his concerts cause there's usually good food accompanied by them and it's funny to watch the audience react

funny that everyday I read same questions whether he's sunni or shia, or discussions on he's Azeri or Iranian. all sound meaningless as race and madhabs are of no importance in Allah when we try to look at the work for the good. we wont be asked of these, eh?
