Re: Islamic Art
I just watched this great show on the Blue Mosque in hi-def. Pretty intense. I've got some really cool Islamic art on my computer, I'll find it and put some up.

Re: Islamic Art
I found it on a forum, the guy who posted said this
which sorta translates to this (I think)
I was reading/browsing for the Libyan artist Aremeis
It felt surprised eyes .. I saw the paintings of the arabic characters
In their creativity and beauty ..
some of the paintings:

You will find that Islamic Art is usually non represntational and the use of figures is not apparent. It's almost always Arabic Calligraphy or abstract ideas.
I like the work of Amir H Fallah but i'm not sure if he's a Muslim. EIther way his art rocks.

Re: Islamic Art
assalamu alaykum
I've seen the work of a Muslim chinese guy...arabic in chinesey calligraphy style. Very cool.
btw: u know wht annoys me about ''islamic art'' - the low expectations. People are happy with anything because they've hardly seen much of it...and so Muslim artists don't have to try very hard. That bugs me. Just draw a nice backgroud and write some arabic words

Re: Islamic Art
asslamau alaykum
well, it's all about technique and materials. The first few could be screen prints which are quite easy to do. I'm pretty sure they are screen prints, but could be wrong. You just need to know how to do things, that's all.
