Yeh it's cool hey. Actually they were both contestants (and cousins as a matter of fact... and Mormons, hah!). They both made it to the top 4 but the guy won.
Alright, if you're cool with him I'm cool with him. The first time I heard him it was from that video in this bar in Antigua. I was thinking "No way... a Rabbi..." But it wasn't just the shock factor that there's this orthodox Jew hopping around singing reggae, he's actually really talented.

Re: Caribbean/Latin Music
come on, you guys. ricky martin? shakira? seriously?
how about stuff that actually has meaning? =P
bolero music- absolutely beautiful
victor jara was a legend. he wrote songs about love, humanity, and peace, and yet he was brutally murdered by pinochet's (US-sponsored) regime when it overthrew salvador allende in chile in the 70's. it's been said that when he was captured, they broke his fingers and taunted him to play his guitar. he sang a revolutionary song to spite them, and then they killed him.
^this beautiful song of his is about a small boy who lives in poverty and plays in ditches.
as for modern-day stuff.....
cafe tacuba (mexico)- one of my favorite videos u_u
bebe (spain)- a song about a victim of domestic violence telling her abuser that real men don't hurt the people they love
julieta venegas (mexico)- a bit poppy and lighter than the other stuff i mentioned, but not bad. someone close to me is a huge fan.
does brazilian music count?
because i love caetano veloso. he usually sings in portuguese, but here's a song of his in spanish

Well, I guess it depends on just how steamy you wanna get,
Although, that particular bolero is definitely on the bunny hill of steaminess

Well, if one were to dance to it, it would be mildly steamy...

YouTube - Compay Segundo - Chan Chan
Here's kickin it old school. Buena Vista Social Club is kind of like... Latin blues. I got to meet one of the guys in Antigua. He was old.

Re: Caribbean/Latin Music
Buena Vista Social Club was overrated in my opinion, Rhythms Del Mundo was a much better CD.
