I won't be picking up random books from the fiction section any more. Some parts of the book were okay though. I was expecting the book to be more about cultural clash and all that. Hmm. These days blurbs aren't very helpful. Rather vague.
Next in line is Broken Verses by Kamila Shamsie. Another random pick from the fiction shelf during my last trip to the library.

The whole series is hilarious! Some of the greatest literary quotes came from it!
"Arther hoped and prayed there wasn't an afterlife. He then realized there was a contradiction involved there and merely hoped there wasn't an afterlife."

what's Life of Pi about?

Abu Hazim replied, “Because you have built and established this world and you have destroyed your Aakhirah, so you hate to go from what you have established to what you have destroyed.”

But then again, why is it after all that, Islam is still the fastest growing religion in the world?

it is amazing what a great imagination he has but that's about it, it's a lot of randomness in one book, great to read but not too difficult to replicate. struck a nerve?

absolutely, but the second half brought in a lot of the information that was given in the first half but yeah the second half was more entertaining. I really enjoyed it.

Its all about a boy who lived on a zoo (pondicherry zoo) and the family decides to go to canada. So they emigrate via sea and the ship sinks. The boy survives in a survival boat thing with a zebra, hyena and a tiger. Eventually it's just him and the tiger and they survive for over 200 days stranded out at sea until he's found washed up on the beaches of Mexico.
It's a great book, about life, instinct, survival etc. Whilst i was reading it, i found i actually did more in my day than i usually do, thinking "if Piscine Moliter Patel can survive in the middle of the Pacific then this is a small task for me!"
it's very improbable but like all fiction, it's based on a lot of truth
i'm reading Istanbul, Memories and the City by Orhan Pamuk
