I had to buy a book for my program on Amazon (out of print book, which means private seller) and then I started looking at other books. I bought a few more books:

"The Beginnings of Western Science: The European Scientific Tradition in Philosophical, Religious, and Institutional Context, Prehistory to A.D. 1450"

"Creations of Fire: Chemistry's Lively History from Alchemy to the Atomic Age"

"The Scientists: A History of Science Told Through the Lives of Its Greatest Inventors"

"The Joy of Chemistry: The Amazing Science of Familiar Things"

Now I just gotta wait for them to arrive!!!

(yeah... this is why I don't go book shopping often....)

I just started reading "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It has a really fascinating premise, I'm going to try and unite the book with Islamic concepts of spirituality. The book is all about turning off the 'noise of the mind' and going back to your essential self in order to become content and attain spiritual heights.

my sister has to read Twilight for her english report and she kept saying how good it was so i read it. i have to admit, i got through it without getting bored. and edward is quite charming

i also want to re-read Kartography because my friend told me something about the ending that I can't remember reading so I need to read it again.
one of us misunderstood the ending and i hope it wasn't me!

finally got around to reading "Ender's Game" and it was really good. Now reading "House of God" and its pretty entertaining so far. Also reading the June Atlantic but there were only two interesting articles in it.

I love having time to read more

Amazon.com: Paula Deen: It Ain't All About the Cookin': Paula Deen, Sherry Suib Cohen: Books

I really liked it. It was ghost-written, but in her same style of "speakin'." She talks about her life story, mistakes she's made, and how she overcame agoraphobia. She also includes a chapter on how to run a business and another chapter on "southern charm." She also includes a bunch of yummy recipes. Overall, a very captivating read.

you cant read Ender's Game and then not Ender's Shadow. By the way, the author is HIGHLY critical of Muslims.

You and me both, man. But by end of next year, things will get a lot worse before they get better for me

Currently reading Better, by Atul Gawande. Very interesting read so far, on the various issues affecting the US medical system.

In Search of Respect: Selling Crack in El Barrio

a fascinating sociological look at institutionalized racism in the inner city and the drug underworld in East Harlem. the author spent several years living in a tenement apartment in "El Barrio", befriending crack dealers and learning their stories.
