i liked the imagery of the village, but the characters all blended together...and the ending (or complete lack of one) was really disappointing. now i need a book to learn MATLAB for my course, gah does anyone have any recommendations?

Stephen King wrote several of the first true adult books I ever read. This was one of them.

Just finished David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. It took me about 3 days of frequent reading, it's long! (i was barely halfway done when I reached page 600
)It was good overall, but dragged on, and i got entirely sick of Mr. and Mrs. Micawber, and the fact that every woman in the book was always fainting, crying or in general acting like a priss. Dora, David's first wife was conveniently killed off by Dickens right as David was starting to think he made a mistake by marrying her (though she was loving and good-intentioned, she was also childish, prissy, always fainting and crying, and was useless when it came to household work or intelligent conversation). Conveniently she died to make room for Agnes, David's childhood friend who he realized only later that he loved more than life itself. Too easy. It kept me occupied, though on several occasions I did think of returning it to the library without finishing it. |

I used to read Julie Garwood all the time Heartbreaker was interesting. Mercy comes a close second. Killjoy was also an interesting read (same family of characters). I know Random, Saving Grace, and The Wedding are others I've enjoyed - those are historical fiction though

Reading Tale of Two Cities now. I don't think I can take 2 Dickens novels in a row, it's time for something a bit lighter
. Also, I read something called My Brother's Keeper. I don't remember if I reviewed it or not, but it was horrid. I don't recommend it at all. |

Muhammad: His life based on the earliest sources - Martin Lings
Awesome book, one of the best biographies of the prophet (s.a.w) I've read thus far.
