Religion was dominant at the time of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Muawiya..during the caliphate of Banu Umaiya in particular because Islam spread far and wide during the caliphates of these people who were not in fact the children of Ali r.a, in fact the caliphate of Ali r.a also wasn't good for Islam because it was full of conspiracies of the Jewish sect and their fitnah.
Since your rest of the Imams couldn't become the caliphs or commanders, this hadith can't help you, you should try your own hadiths from the Sahi Kafi.
As for where our 12 Imams are, our Holy Prophet didn't give us their names, he didn't either tell us that it is necessary for everyone to know them by name and believe them, belief of 12
fallible imams as mentioned above is not an article of faith.
Most scholars have included Muawiya radiyallahu anhu to these 12 imams, I'm sure you like it.
