Well, you know what our definition of an Islamic state is, you obviously don't agree on that; our Islamic state would be in line with the one that was established by the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and extended by Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Muawiyah radhiyallahu anhum. Ali radhiyallahu anhu as well was part of that Islamic empire but unfortunately Islamic state suffered lots of damage during his period, though it became quite strong during Caliph Muawiya's rule.
Please don't start any Ali-Muawiya debate, I'm not intending to start any such discussion, I'm simply telling you how we (sunnis) and you (shias) don't agree on what an Islamic state is, and this is a reality, you may 'shower' your love upon sunnis in sunni forums but you will agree with me on shiachat, trust me.
The 'true' Islamic state in the eyes of shias would be 'first time' established when Imam Mehdi appears, right?
I'm not here to criticise what you call an 'Islamic State', I'm only trying to explain that the way shias don't accept Taliban's Sharia calling it Wahabism or Extremism, I and most sunnis who have good knowledge of shi'ism don't as well recognise Iran as an Islamic State, Iran is simply a hardcore shia state that often damages sunnis' interest when it sees their dream of greater Shia Empire may come true.
If you compare Taliban's Islam with Iranians' Islam, you will agree that Taliban never supported Americans or Russians against Muslims, but Iranians have really been supporting Americans in Iraq at least and there's no doubt about it.
