Another factor that I feel may effect the scores of Latinos and African Americans in reference to test scores is that the households they are raised in dont really emphasize education as much as other cultures do like Asians (for Instance) Im 1/2 Hispanic I can tell you that for me personally education wasnt really a big deal at my house, I mean you were expected to pass but the grade wasnt such a big deal.....looking back I see how that was a complete disservice to my future.

When I became more involved with my Pakistani family (my parents split when I was really young) I realized how education was a major deal with them....an 80 on a test wasnt congratulated, it was looked down upon....90's or better was what my Father wanted from all of us.
