Yes, stimulating the clitoris is important, sure (I neve denied that) but the clitoral hood is there for a reason. It protects the clitoris from overstimulation which can cause discomfort at the least but can even be painful.

As far as I know the clitoris is an "under-developed penis". There are plenty of men who wear underwear or tight clothing. In other words they do not have hood to protect their privates. So pressure or contact is not enough to get aroused. If I am not mistaken, women are emotional lovers, so they need both the emotional and the physical to be aroused.
