no i didnt melt it, but i 'softened' it by keeping the wrapper on and microwaving it for 15 seconds. i had to mix it for a while, but eventually all the dry part mixed in well. yeah, they stayed chewy after cooling. but i think if i ever make them again i'd flatten out the dough balls a little before baking so that theyd cook more evenly throughout.
