I've read more than one tafseer which stated that this was referring to loving each one of them equally [as opposed to merely treating each one at the same level of material support] and it is impossible for a man to love more than one woman with the same level of love.
If I find it. I'll get it to you and yeah ... ask her who she's referring to and demand some sources. Don't let her brush you off.
If anything, she better know that Muslim students in the class will demand intellectual and academic honesty from her and keep her on her toes.
