'Cept the "useless" bit sounds funnier in Punjabi. The word we use in Punjabi for people who have nothing to do is "velay."
My response: "Uh, Mom... we all go to school and hold down jobs too, so we have plenty of things to do. In our free time though, we like to have fun."
