By my understanding the Usa uses the Simple plurality voting system which is where the winner takes all therefore there will be a vast majority of "wasted votes" -the votes that do not make a difference once one of the canditates has the higher number. So for example, Huckabee has 20 votes and Obama has 80 but the 59 votes after the 21 that will be counted are wasted. Therefore if you vote against the candidate you do not want then your votes may not be wasted!
