medical and dental students are actually in school the same amount of time...they're both 4 years long...physicians have a mandatory residency though where as with dentistry, its optional...and dental residencies vary from 2 to 6 years while medical residencies vary from 3 to qiyamat
Over here the optional residency is around a year for recent dental grads, (which rarely anyone does),then they can go out and start working! thats like at the age of 25! Also, some people I know of take additional evening courses on side to enhance their skills in endo/ortho whie they work full time. ps: ortho is 4 years here.

whereas I think medical doc are in a sticky situation, they have 4 years med school+ 4residency+ 3 specialization..well thats the case for the person whom I know of...poor guy= OLD.

inshaAllah all the best.
