I've made a little chart, of sorts, to show you. The first two ages are the ages kids in that grade are before the New Year and the second two are the ages they are after. The number of kids who're younger tend to be the minority anyway, simply because more kids have birthdays after the new year (more months after than before, considering the school year starts in September).

JK: 3/4/, 4/5
SK: 4/5, 5/6

1: 5/6, 6/7
2: 6/7, 7/8
3: 7/8, 8/9
4: 8/9, 9/10
5: 9/10, 10/11

6: 10/11, 11/12
7: 11/12, 12/13
8: 12/13, 13/14

9: 13/14, 14/15
10: 14/15, 15/16
11: 15/16, 16/17
12: 16/17, 17/18

Clearly, you start Grade 9 either when you're 13 or 14.
At least that's how it works here.
