Very awesome book - essential reading in my view.

Then you have to read his "Islam, the West and the Challenges of Modernity" and "Western Muslims and the Future of Islam" as they all build on that book (which was his first major one).

On another note, his most recent book "In the Footsteps of the Prophet: Lessons from the Life of Muhammad" is a beautiful read and very inspiring... not as technical and geeky as the books above. I really enjoyed it.
