only your mom? so im guessing your dad is african-american and your mom has been here for a pretty long time? most somali's i meet usually came here if not in the past few years, then back in the mid to late 90's. only very few have i met that were here for a really long time. im not saying thats the norm, thats just been my experience.
i once scared some somali kid at my mosque back in ramadan. he was standing outside smoking a sqaure, and got scared when i was standing around there. so he comes up to me and asks me what my nationality was, when i told him, he breathed a huge sigh of relief and said 'i thought some of my dad's people started coming to this mosque' lol.
