Default Re: Ebay

my recent experience with paypal:

I signed my mom using her discover card to automatically pay her long distance phone line. I don't know how this even happened, but a guy in the UK used her account to purchase a cell phone worth ~440 british pounds ($880). at this point, we didn't even know this had occurred. in the meantime, something prompted paypal to investigate, with the end result being a reversal of the money. unfortunately, the value of the dollar had dropped by then, so my mom ended up losing $40 total after the currency was converted.

only after my mom received her discover card statement did she find out that all this had occurred (the initial charge and the reversal). i'm still trying to contact paypal to figure out what happened, but it makes me leery that someone could utilize her account so easily.
