The Muslims in Swat

Assalam - Alaikum,
As Muslims living well off in the west it is our Islamic and Moral Duty to help our brothers and sisters. I am sure most of you are aware about the situation in Swat. The current situation in the whole region is very bad due to the military operation. Most of the people have left their homes due to continuous bombing, shelling and lack of security in the entire Malakand region.
The exodus is said to be the largest movement of people in Pakistan for 60 years. An estimated 500,000 people are running away from the fighting with the few belongings they can carry. People from the entire Malakand region [are fleeing] on foot. Women and children and even old women and old men. Some of them died on the road, but no one was willing to offer help. Those fleeing the area will be losing their agriculture, their livestock ... in addition to that, their houses and their family networks.
We can do a lot as individuals, the problem we have is that we are defeated by our nafs before we can even make that move.The people in this region have suffered for years, still not having recovered from the Earthquake and now from the military operations.
All these people need now is help in any form from the Ummah. To accomplish this, we have decided to launch an appeal. We have setup a website , fundforswat.com to raise funds for the refugees from Swat. All the information is available on the website. I would like to request you all to come forward and donate generously. Please also inform your family, friends and relatives to come forward in this great cause.
It is stated in the Holy Quran
Spend (in charity) out of the sustenance that We have bestowed on you before that time when death will come to someone, and he shall say: "O my Lord! If only you would grant me reprieve for a little while, then I would give in charity, and be among the righteous." - The Holy Quran, 63:10
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Save yourself from hellfire by giving even half a date-fruit in charity." - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 498
