Yes indeed. Those who wage jihad feesabeelillah are refered to as mujahideen. This meaning the physical act of fighting the enemies of Allah(SWT). But, you can't really be considered a mujahid untill that takes place.
As for my opinions of Br. Samir, I think that he is doing a good thing. In his old site there was much beneficial articles/videos/lectures on the topic. I have learned a lot from it and ask Allah(SWT) to bless him for compiling it all. Scholars, and people in general shy away from the topic of jihad and because of it we have ignorance about it amongst the muslims.

Ignorance amongst ourselves is a big problem, especially sectarian conflict....
Yet Do you really have to engage in physical fighting, What about a battle of Ideals like what Br. Samir is doing?
