I have to work with this guy at work and he boils really easily ... like boil as in gets mad/frustrated/annoyed... and he tries to compensate for it by being super nice... but it just comes across as awkward and/or weird/creepy . Like he calls me bud and slaps my shoulder. One time he even used the word " budaroo".
I'm just glad he's not my boss.
So discuss how do you deal with the office boiler and (other office personalities )?

Since he is not your boss - I would just try to avoid him as much as you can. I worked with someone like that (and he was my boss). Everyone around me knew he was crazy - they even called him my crazy boss. I mean to the point of him cussing and just blowing up. However, I'm very calm and would try and just brush it off as much as I could. There is a buddhist saying that everything is a gift and you can choose whether or not to accept it. If you don't accept it - who does it belong to? Him. His anger is a gift - choose not to accept it and it belongs to him solely. Also, the truth always comes out. People know he's a bit nuts - even if they don't seem to mention it to you - so find comfort in that. Plus - you won't be working with him forever.
