I don't think success is about tall buildings. Anyone who's visited Abu Dhabi would realise that despite the riches, it still looks like a fourth world city (with the exception of a few areas housing the embassies, I think).
Abu Dhabi is definitely richer than Dubai, because they have the oil. Also, Burj al-Arab (7 star hotel), which is in Dubai, is now owned by Abu Dhabi.
I'd like to see the country develop on other levels, and money helps.

i dont know if i was sarcastic, but i am genuinely happy for the emiratis because you guys are building up your country and using your money in productive ways along with the frivolous stuff that gulfis can afford to do. the skyscrapers are a marker for investment, infrastructure, etc. By themselves they dont really mean wealth but alot of towers in a city do tend to correlate with it.
I think Abu Dhabi should build a man-made island in the shape of shaq and build the first 11 star hotel plus a space shuttle launch platform
