I am African-American and I would like to purchase some kufis. At the masjid, they suggested that I buy white because it means purity and equality. Then I read this:

I was looking at the External Links on wiki and I realized that there are many different styles available. Which color of kufi is best? What style of kufi is best for a new muslim (revert)? Should I wear a crown or a crochet? I like the white crochet from Halalco. Other brothers at my mosque wear them. At my masjid only the Imam and the men who teach Arabic on Sunday wear crowns. Can non-scholars wear them, or do you have to know a lot of Arabic and Hadith?
