I think it raises the very relevant point that society really relies on these lower class people. Society relies on them for jobs like being a waitress, bank teller, police man, garbage man. Society is unwilling to do one of two things a) pay them a living wage comiserate with housing prices, b) create affordable housing where they can live at their present wage. People will go on and on about how it's a free market, and suply and demand etc. but there needs to be some kind of safety net for the people at the bottom. It's rediculous that a person works 40 hours a week, and cannot afford to pay rent in anything but part of town where crack addicts live. We should reward people for working, not degrade them.
