True, but that's not what I'm referring to.

China hasn't made anything kind of investments in Iraq or Sudan near the type or size of investment its made in Pakistan - please recall that Gawadar is a deep sea port and Pakistan has given China full license to use that for military purposes. That is why Gawadar is being developed - China will be using it to station its own naval fleets to patrol the warm waters of the Indian Ocean as well as the Persian Gulf. As a side benefit to Pakistan, Gawadar will also be used as a port city alternative to Karachi for risk management, but that's just a secondary benefit.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that cooler heads will prevail because a lot of different parties have a lot of vested economic interests at stake. China will engage in diplomatic overtures specifically to prevent an escalation in any military conflict between Pakistan and America.

No one's arguing that, but I don't believe America is so stupid that they would risk exponentially magnifying the existing chaos, instability and anarchy in Pakistan just to prove something like that.
China invested in Iraq and Sudan's oil development. China gets something like 10% of its oil from Sudan, which is a huge amount. I agree that China will raise all hell if its investments are quashed, but even if Gawader is as important as you say, it doesn't mean that they will defend Pakistan over a single port.

Again, if push comes to shove, most of the countries will just look the other way or probably raise condemnations in the UN. They might covertly fund Pakistani guerillas, but I doubt anything else.
