The Chinese have made massive investments in building their deep-sea port at Gawadar. They're not going to let America threaten that investment so easily. I think if any serious incident happens between Pakistani and American forces, it'll be diplomatic maneuvering between various parties who have vested interests in the status quo that will settle things down, instead of resorting to escalating conflict.

China's also invested heavily in Iraq and Sudan. While they've engaged in a lot of diplomatic opposition, I doubt that'll be enough to cause a military conflagration. America knows its got the upperhand on the world in terms of military power and economic stability. While it can't engage in too many places at once, it can take on certain countries. Pakistan, like Afghanistan and Somalia, is a failed state. You also forget that Pakistan's military has been largely supported by US aid and the Chinese. You assume that America needs control in Pakistan - it doesn't. They can bomb the country and walk away so long as the nukes are safe. There are enough traitors within Pakistan that will be willing to give America Pakistan's nukes so long as their own skin is saved.
Trust me, if Pakistan challenges American hegemony directly and America responds with force, it will get very ugly in Pakistan.
