That's misrepresenting what I said. Having shoes is a basic necessity. Wearing heels and platforms - fine, go ahead, I have no objections to that ... the women of my family wear heels sometimes, and I wouldn't mind if my wife wore them, as long as they're not six-inchers or platforms.
But when you start getting into extravagance, yeah, that's definitely catering to lower desires. Probably feeds the ego too .. you're probably right, I suppose.
