I saw and posted an article about women in some of the most powerful Arab families in Israel speaking out against honor killings after losing too many female members to this form of murder. At least that is a start, but more needs to be done. this crime happened in England but it is repeated in so many other places around the world. Does anyone have any suggestions about changing this thinking that leads to this? Where do we begin?

"Honor killings" are a problem, but then again, so is killing in general, as well as a host of other societal vices, such as sex slavery, racism, drugs, etc. Honor killings
are entirely cultural in origin, as are forced marriages and racism. Just because people are from the ME, doesn't mean that everything they do has to do with religion, specifically Islam.
Kurdish Yezidis commit "honor killings" too (remember the story of Khalil Aswad?), as do Christians in Africa. Even in Brazil, this happens.
It's a bit more widespread than just "ME-cultured Muslims".

Where do we begin:
Perhaps rejection of attitudes of "denial", "it doesn't happen often" and well what about "Western acts of violence" would be a good way to start

Or how about, "societal vices exist everywhere". How do you combat societal vices? By combatting ignorance, as these vices depend on it.
