yeah, i was talking about peace as the absence of war. The fact that many Arab people consider their countries to be "occupied" when they arent is probably a big part of why revenge fantasies are so prominent in our national imaginations. Theres also the sense that the Arab cause is being betrayed by collaborationist leaders, although most seem content to point the fingers at the dictators of their neighbors rather than their own dictators. Of course we are also suffering from economic problems, with a few exceptions. And so on. The entire mixture of factors that makes up the modern Arab experience is what generates those aspects of our culture that I dont like, like the fixation on war and all the conspiracy theories and so on. But it also creates the many more aspects of modern arab culture that I do like. We are who we are

But yeah, I wasnt talking about the concept of 'prosperous peace' that you brought up
