Default Turkey - headscarf issue

Turkey's prime minister called wednesday for lifting a ban on women wearing head scarves in universities, but the secularist military and "modern" Turkey elite make the pressure against it. Their arguments are so trivial. What is wrong with those people? It is a tabu in many Christian countries to ban headscarfs, because its the fundamental right, not a religious symbol and they pretend not to understand this. But I think it is just the course of the same elite that wants to secure the society and wealthy positions against the rising intellectual power of people who come to Ankara, Istambul from rural parts of Turkey to educate. They were good while they were invisible working force, but now when they want to have a say in the society, that scares the rich elite. They want to shut them down. I think many Turks suffer from inferiority complex towards the west and have huge identity crisis. Just read one of Orhan Pamuk novels and its obvious. So they made it in destroying the rich cultur, art and replaced it by bad EU immitations. Ataturk really messed their minds. And my people became Muslims during their presence in Balkans, where did that go now?
