Agh! Looks like I have to start all over again with the terrific song thread since the original got lost. :sigh: Where to begin???? So many songs to choose from. Anyway, the basic criteria is that the song have a melody that is easy to sing along with. Much of today's music is full of too many grunts, unintelligible sounds and vocal gymnastics for my liking. I guess I'm a bit old fashioned but I like something I can sing.
Might as well start with the great Seals and Crofts. Jim Seals and Dash Crofts are a singer-songwriter duo that charted several major hit records during the 1970's, including "Summer Breeze", "Diamond Girl", "Hummingbird", "We May Never Pass This Way Again", "I'll Play for You", and "Get Closer".

Their songs are highly melodic folk-pop, but many carry messages relating to Seals and Crofts' belief in the Bahai faith. This does not detract from the listenability and popularity of their finely crafted songs.
Summer Breeze
Quote:
See the curtains hanging in the window
In the evening on a Friday night
A little light a-shining through the window
Lets me know everythings alright
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
See the paper lying on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walk on up to the door step
Through the screen and across the floor
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Sweet days of summer, the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
When I come home from a hard days work
And you're waiting there, not a care in the world
See the smile a-waiting in the kitchen
Food cooking and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
