I think so. I prefer to think that if they were simply seeking opportunity they would do something far less challenging, like working in child care, or the public school system. To me, if you're choosing a religious career that pays next to nothing and is very demanding spiritually and even physically, you're not doing it for opportunistic reasons. You know what you're doing is wrong, that your urges and desires are wrong and so forth.
I dunno, maybe it's because I grew up in a predominantly Catholic town, but I pity clergy who end up in these sorts of situations.
