I will try to search for it insha-Allah. Basically, the proofs I used to issue this fatwa were the following:
I do believe that the Sahabah disarmed the people during times of sedition and killing, as well as severely punished those who were involved in arms dealings during such times. We of course live in such times, where rampant killing, gang warfare, etc. are rampant.
But this was just with regards to swords..
As for guns, I believe that the Prophet [s] explicitly forbade cruel weapons, especially those that use fire.
Again, I'll have to dig up the proofs.
By the way, I'm kidding about the issuing a fatwa part. Obviously this is just my own opinion. Take it as you wish insha-Allah.
