Default Re: Why did you choose your username and avatar?

As-Salaamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. =)

Well, this is why I chose the username "Houri"...

I am not sure if everyone is familiar with what a houri is, but in Islam, a houri is described as a "pure being" of Paradise. A houri may have a connotation of gender like the word "angel" in English but in general sense a houri can be male or female as does the word "angel" in English. A houri is one of the dark-eyed virgins of perfect beauty who will live with the blessed in Paradise.

The women of this world are far from attractive if you compare them with the houris. But inshaa'Allah, when the women of this world enter Paradise, the beauty of the women in this life will overpower theirs.

When I first learned about the houris (plural of houri) I was at awe. I really started to admire them and it is because of their descrpition of purity and chastity that made me want to emulate their goodness, inshaa'Allah.

So this is what my username means and why I chose it.
