agree with yousuf. i've had experiences with honda civics and nissan sentras, and i'll tell you definitely avoid the sentras. too many problems from what i've seen in the two that we've had. you can easily get a civic under 5k. mine is a 95 sedan with 132k miles that would go for $2000. I love the handling, and after all these years, it still gives 27mpg hwy/23 mpg city. nothing major has broken over the 7 years i've had it even though I've abused it plenty (no repairs >$350 dollars).
