this reminds me of the time my friend's mom picked up the phone to this guy who called to talk to her daughter (my friend). my friends mom said no, and he said that "her father promised him their daughter for marriage if he(the guy who called) gave them money and land back home (from whatever country that was)"
the father came back to a raging mad house and he called off the "soon to be wedding"
