The first thing you have to do is deprive them of food, and spaces to hide, ie. clean your house. Then you have to be exceptionally careful when you prepare food to clean up carefully afterwords, seal food containers etc.
Once you've done that, spraying is much more likely to work. My sister worked for an exterminating service at one time.
